It's a Marvelous Sunday!
We got up and around this morning and made it to church. We're meeting in the community center on the other side of the church construction site from the school that we'll be meeting in when school starts. Anyway, since there are no facilities for the kids to have their children's church, we are all together for the whole time. Very loud, but I think I'm the only one who minds it. Everybody else seems to be ok with it.
We are again watching "Raven" - one of Caleb's two favorite shows. It's like "Survivor" for kids - but without the back-stabbing, fighting, pettiness, long-term isolation on a desert island, and $1M prize. Basically it's just the challenges and drama built in by the host, who is supposed to be an ancient Scot wizard. http://www.ukgameshows.com/page/index.php/Raven He also loves Bamzooki. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/bamzooki/
This afternoon at 4, we're going round to an older couple's home from church. They have a toy train set up in their garden and have invited all of the children from church to come over and play. (Their own kids are in their 30s.) There aren't that many kids in our church - there aren't that many people in our church, come to think of it. Anyway, they will have tea also for all of us. So I'll try to remember to take the camera. The husband, Barry, was talking with us a couple of weeks ago and told us that he and his wife visited the states and took a ride on the Cumbres & Toltec railroad. Sound familiar, anyone? They stayed in Chama.
Terry - the loo downstairs only has a toilet. Then we have 2 upstairs - both have toilets, one has a tub, the other has a shower.
Now on to more pictures.
Steve is being a dork and making fun of the tiny cokes. Lynette - we've already decided that we're going to stock up for your visit.

Cookies the kids got from our local bakery. We go about once every couple of weeks or so and get treats. Their donuts are so-so. Steve remarks every time, "Why do I feel like I'm eating regular white bread with icing on it?" He's not impressed with the donut-making over here. We walked over yesterday morning and got some stuff. One of the things we bought was a lardy cake. Very tasty. Like cinnamon raisin bread, but flat and square. I had some for breakfast today with clotted cream on. Clotted cream tastes very much like the butter that you make when you shake whipping cream.
This is all the pictures that the site is letting me upload right now. I'll try more later tonight or tomorrow.
Sandi - temperatures are getting hotter here. It's been mild for the last week, so we've enjoyed seeing all those around us fully clothed. It's supposed to get hotter this week - Steve has already decided to do as the locals.
*Our friend Sandi told us about a news article from England. The women over here are wanting a law passed that makes the men over here leave their shirts on in public during hot weather. Steve and I concur. Have I mentioned "Three Nekkid Guys Road" yet? If not, somebody let me know and I'll fill you in on why Audrey named the Burghfield road thusly.
One more thing - this morning at church we sang "Crown Him With Many Crowns" and we sang a verse I've never sung. It made me smile because of the phrase "ineffably sublime" during one of the stanzas. How British!

So you have real bathrooms. :)
We used to get teased when we asked to use someones bathroom in NZ...
"Well yes you can if you like..but I think you would prefer the loo ( or water closet and even toilet) instead. ;) Sure enough their bathroom would not have a toilet in them.
So have you guys seen a "Porta-Loo"?
Porta-Potties at their best. ;)
Tell Steve that his nightmare is real that the new Pop machine at the NSSB building only dispenses those small Pop cans now including DP! LOL.
Well I have 35 minutes to get to church. And I am the only one up. Oh well.
Keep posting.
Elizabeth saw the pictures on your blog and started calling y'alls names out. She misses you guys.
She looks at the family pictures and points and says "Apple" meaning April.
how big is that coke steve is holding? 3 ozs??? i know i'm used to things being bigger in texas, but that's just crazy. =8^)
signed,
dr. bubba's sister (i'm the one that gave him that name, btw. shouldn't i get royalities or something?)
Steve looks like a giant among men drinking that tiny coke.
That's a real serving, though. All of our super-sized cokes contain multiple servings, so we'll buy more.
