A Few Marvelous Things I Keep Forgetting

Marvelous Thing #1
The other day Steve was getting chips for the kids. We have little snack packs of plain, cheddar & onion, salt & vinegar, bbq rib, and prawn cocktail. Steve's been trying to get rid of them all. I don't eat them, but he and the kids do. So Steve pulled out a regular, a prawn, and a cheddar & onion. The regular was for him, and he had the other 2 for Audrey to choose from. He was at the table holding all 3 and said, "Which do you want?" She looked at the 2 bags he had for her, then without missing a beat, chose his bag. We all laughed, then he put his bag down and asked her again. This time, he asked her if she wanted the blue bag (cheddar) or the pink bag (prawn). He only said colors this time, not flavors. She looked at them and said, "Pink is my favorite color..." I was trying not to make one of those "ewww, she chose a nasty flavor" look, when Steve started to hand her the pink prawn ones, but she said, "...but I want BLUE!" I think she remembered the nasty chips from last time. So we had a nice chuckle about this.

Marvelous Thing #2
We finally found vanilla extract. We actually found it about a month ago, but I keep forgetting to write about it. It has the seeds in it. Little teeny tiny seeds. But it tastes fabulous! It's not the alcohol-type stuff that we have at home. It's sweet and smells so fabulous!

Marvelous Thing #3
Baby food over here is weird. It's hard to find food that's just one ingredient, and it's even more difficult to determine what exactly is in the mixtures by their names. For instance, Julie has been eating "vegetable and red pepper pasta." It's actually macaroni & cheese with carrots and bell peppers. Plus swedes. What are swedes? Parsnips? Why don't they just say "parsnips?" Plus there's lots of breakfast pudding, breakfast porridge, breakfast mush, etc. She likes the various mushy breakfast things. She also likes yogurt. She has a yogurt every morning. Oh - and speaking of weird foods, I bought a cegetable curry mush the other day that she sort of ate.

All for now. I need to either cook dinner or start packing. I don't really feel inclined to do either at this point, but what choice do I have?

The chicken actually do not taste bad just the thought of chicken flavor is weird.

Enjoy the trip. Tell Steve that I have been rubbing elbows with the transport god all week. Larsen and Booth. ;)
