On the Road to Marvelous-ville
Or maybe I should say Marvelous-borough (pronounced burra). That's what they'd say here.
We have downstairs phone service. I am beyond relieved. But we only have one socket that we know of down here that works. But at least we don't have to run upstairs every time we hear the phone, which is not often but often enough to be a huge pain.
So I think now I'm going to troll eBay for one of those phone systems you plug into the socket in only one place but has several cordless handsets that you can put around the house.
It was hot again today - over 30. Like 32-ish. Yikes. And humid. I hate humidity. Audrey's hair is beautifully curly, though. We were in the grocery store tonight after we picked up Steve and Audrey and Julie were sitting together in a trolley that's a two-seater up top. Julie can sit if she has something to lean on (Audrey and the basket). Anyway - back to the story. Well, not yet. We went to the store because I didn't want to cook dinner in this heat. It's almost as hot inside as outside. We picked up some microwave food (Steve got Indian food - AGAIN). Now back to Audrey's hair. As we were in the check-out line, I was playing with her hair and I told Steve, "Audrey's hair is" but before I could say "beautiful," she said "My hair is beautiful!" Yikes! Then as we were getting ready to check out, she looks at the lady at the till and says "I have beautiful hair." Fortunately it was a lady whose line we've been through before, so we have a mini-relationship with her. She just laughed. Then she mentioned her holiday coming up in 9 days - she's going to Canada. She and Steve talked about Lucky Charms and how sad it is they don't have them over here.
As I sit here gazing at my beautiful TV watching an American show ("Cold Case"), an ad comes on. I'm not really paying attention to it, as I'm trying to think of the next witty thing I'm going to write about. When I do tune in, I see it's and ad for the show "24." They have good taste over here. But I do have to discount the fact that they're showing "The New Adventures of Superman" from the mid-90s with Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher. Yikes! Talk about campy!
Caleb went to Camp Adventure for a couple of hours today. He made a paper mache thing that we'll pick up on Friday and then he did some trampolining! He demonstrated seat drops all afternoon. Jump, jump, jump, drop to his rear on the floor. It's hilarious as all get-out, but it can't be comfortable!
I think we're going to take a weekend off from our "British Experiences." We're going to watch "Cars" on Friday or Saturday. It's only coming out here Friday. But I guess in a way it will be a British Experience because we're going to buy our tickets tomorrow and we'll have assigned seating - like at plays and such.
Friday night we're going to let the kids sleep in Julie's room because it's nice and dark. The point of this is that hopefully they will sleep later than 5:43 a.m. because it's too light outside to sleep anymore. We'll let Julie sleep in our room - I don't know if we'll drag the crib in there or just make her a little pallet. She flips over and rolls around, but she doesn't go very far or very fast.
So I think that's all for now. I'm just finishing up our order for broadband...hopefully a week from now I can post all of these pictures we have just sitting in the camera. Time to watch the 10 o'clock news on BBC 1.
'Night!
