Marvelous Pictures of Alnwick Castle, Falkirk Wheel, Wallace Monument

Where the flying lesson scene from Harry Potter was filmed.

Audrey & Caleb in the grounds outside the castle. This green area was beside the place where Hagrid's hut was.

Sir Caleb & Lady Audrey at the jousting event.

Falkirk Wheel

It's rotating counter-clockwise in this picture. The top circle will go from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock. There's a boat in the bottom circle and it will go up to the top to the canal up there.

Now it's going clockwise. It's lowering a barge down to the water from the upper canal as well as raising a barge up to the upper canal. Make sense?

Wallace Monument
This is me and the kids at the base of the monument looking out over Stirling...windy day.

A view from the top. Audrey kept saying, "I can see the whole wide world!"

Inside. I think this was on the level with the white marble busts of people I didn't really know. I liked the windows, though. You don't have to know who windows are of to enjoy them.

This is the bottom of the hill that the monument sits on. The 3 of us walked all the way up the hill, then up the tower to the top. Impressive, yeah?

That's a cheesy statue of Mel Gibson as William Wallace. It doesn't flatter either of them and cheapens the whole place.
