It's Too Humid - Not Marvelous

It's cooler today, overcast and very humid. Yuck. Feels like College Station in the late fall/early winter. I miss the NM lack of humidity. My hair is a ridiculous frizzy mess, even straightened.

Anyway - I feel yucky today. Julie was up several times last night. I think she has an ear infection, but I'm not sure. She has a fever and tugs on her ear every now and then. So I used some ear drops and gave her some Motrin. But she was still up a lot. And my back is just killing me. I sent Steve to work in the van - he took Audrey to school and Julie and I walked Caleb to school. In about an hour, I'll ride a bus to Audrey's school and pick her up.

Now on to the last part of our trip around the islands - the drive home.

Not much to report. After we got off the ferry, we navigated through little Welsh towns to the motorway. Actually we just followed the loooooong line of other cars from the ferry to the motorway.

Wales was very pretty. Very green. Sheepies in a field. We stopped at a services area along the motorway for lunch. As in Ireland, things are bilingual. But it's a little disconcerting because we had no idea what the other language meant. For example, the name of the town we stopped at for lunch is Pont Abraham in English, but Llanedi Pontardulais. No clue how to pronounce it.

See what I mean? Can you read these signs? At least English is on the top lines of these signs. In Ireland, the Gaelic was on the top and the English was on the bottom. It caused more than a few minor moments of silent panic while trying to navigate for Steve over there. He agreed that it wouldn't be so bad if English were on the top.

So that's pretty much it. We got home around 6:30 or 7 after stopping at the grocery store to get milk and a couple of pizzas.

Just yesterday I finally got everything put away from the trip. I already had the laundry carnage and suitcases put away, but hadn't dealt with all of the books and other souvenirs we bought. Got it all put away.

Oh - the sun came out! Wonder how long that will last?

This morning Caleb had one of those moments that makes me laugh and feel heartbroken simultaneously. Steve and Audrey had gathered up their stuff and were in the van and Caleb was watching TV in the lounge and I was in the kitchen with Julie. Our lounge looks out to the driveway, so when Steve started to drive off with Audrey and Caleb heard the van crunching on the rocks on the drive, I heard a little voice say, "Wait! You forgot me!" I hustled into the lounge and realized that we hadn't told Caleb what the plan was for the morning. As I hugged him, I felt his little heart racing. Poor baby!
