Last Night's Marvelous Dinner
Dinner last night was marvelous for more than one reason. We had chili & rice with FRITOS!! We received a box of stuff from the states which included Fritos and a box of Fruit Loops. Thanks, Nana!
Audrey fell asleep on the way home from getting Steve at work, and when we got her home, she staggered in and went back to sleep on the couch. She came to dinner, but didn't eat anything and asked to go to bed. We excused her and she went upstairs, then came back down and went back to sleep on the couch. She slept until 6:30 this morning. Actually, she slept until the wee hours of the night, then came and got in bed with us and slept until 6:30.
So that left Caleb, Steve, Julie & me for dinner. At one point I was talking about the start on the new season of "Dancing With the Stars." I had looked at the abc network's website earlier that day and had seen pictures of the new lineup. I was telling Steve that Jerry Springer is one of the dancers and that he and another "star," an MSNBC anchorman, both look very wooden in their poses. Caleb immediately says in a very Steve-like voice, "What, are they brown and have nails in them?" Steve laughed for 2 straight minutes. I still don't know if Caleb was serious or joking. It doesn't really matter. It was a marvelous moment for Steve as he saw his little smart-aleck protege shine.
I was asking Caleb questions about school and he started obviously embellishing his tale. I glanced over at Steve just in time to see a rather stern look on his face. Caleb immediately stopped talking and got up from the table and went around the corner to the restroom. I thought he was relieving himself until we heard him crying. I could hardly understand what he was saying when I asked him what was wrong, but finally heard him say, "Daddy gave me the 'punishment face' when I was at the table just now." I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry! Once we finally coaxed Caleb back to the table, Steve explained that he wasn't in trouble, but that Steve was a little worried about his tendency to embellish.
Anyway, it was still funny. Punishment face. Ha.
I'm going to bed now. The girls and I will go to Slough tomorrow (25 miles to the East) to pick up an exersaucer-type-thing for Julie that I bought on eBay. I was hoping to send Steve off with the van so that I wouldn't have to drive tomorrow, but no such luck. Oh well. Maybe Friday.

Hello "Dancing with the Stars"! Can't believe you can get this show there! Another reason to be excited in addition to just being with you! Amarillo Auntie
So is Dancing with the Stars on in England? I love it! It brings back fabulous memories of Blossom and Saved By the Bell. I think Emmitt Smith has a great chance of winning...
