Marvelous Details of an Unremarkable Life

Nothing exciting to report, but I have been thinking about life over here and want to share that with my 3 readers.

Today Julie took both daytime naps in her own crib in her own room. But she cried and it broke my heart. All to pieces. It's harder to put her down and walk away when she's crying than I think it was with the other 2. Maybe it's because of all the changes that have happened since the little dear was born. We didn't have a dedicated nursery, so she slept in her bassinet in our room or in our bed until we left for England. So basically 5 months. Then we got here and didn't have a crib for her for another month almost. Our daily schedule has been so weird that she hasn't had a normal nap schedule. Until now. And she doesn't like it. But when she's sleepy she doesn't cry for more than 5 minutes. But that doesn't make it any easier. She's so sweet, I just want to hold her all the time. Well, a lot of the time. Ok - sometimes. My point is that I don't like to put her down crying. Makes me sad.

Ok - next topic. I'm walking everywhere these days. It beats driving for 2 hours every day. But most people walk around here. Lots of pedestrians and bike riders. I walk at minimum an hour each day - 30 minutes round-trip to deliver and pick up Caleb from school. So he walks at least 30 minutes a day, and Audrey walks 30 minutes every day plus 20 minutes on the days she goes to school, plus another 30 minutes on the days she doesn't go to her school. Make sense? Their whining about the walking is rapidly dwindling, thankfully.

Uuummm. My brain is a blank slate right now. I had all these grand ideas about what to write and now I can't remember any more of them. Oh well. I'll try again tomorrow.

WAIT!

Caleb has his first spelling words. "Spellings" they call it here - like "maths." Anyway, his words are: cat, hat, fat, sad, had, man, ran, bag, clap, trap. He can spell them all, but we're working on being able to write them. He's getting much better. His spellings test is Friday, so we'll see how he does. He's working on reading books, too. He does pretty well.

Now to go.
