Changed Plans and Pained Calves
My plan was to go to the pool this afternoon. I worked up a positive attitude to go (because I don't like to go with all 3 kids by myself), got everyone suited up and sunscreened, loaded the girls in the stroller, got Caleb out to the garage, made sure everybody's hats were on, and heard thunder.
Great.
Back inside to call the pool. They told me they had just been "bolted." I'm assuming that means closed for lightening, but I don't know pool lingo.
So we all went into the backyard and I sprayed all 3 kids with the hose for a while. I'm washing swimsuits right now because they're muddy.
Then the mail came and my latest "get thin" thing showed up - a jump rope. I won't bore you with how cool it is (because the "adjust-your-own-length" thing doesn't work 100% so it's not totally cool) but I also got a DVD and workout CD with it. I watched the DVD (technique and instructions), uploaded the CD to my MP3 player, and went outside to jump for 15 minutes. I'm guessing that because the workout is so intense, that 15 minutes is the standard length of jumping workout. It kicked my backside. But I only missed 6-8 times. Not bad but it hurt when those plastic beads smacked my in the legs.
I decided to use the concrete pad beside the garage, and both kids decided to follow me out. The were riding their bike (Caleb) and trike (Audrey) down the little hill toward me on the parking pad, all the while holding foam baseball bats out in front of them like jousting lances. Guess what they were saying as they charged me? Charge. But they never got close enough to get me because they were afraid of my jump rope.
So now I have a sore calf. It feels like a cramp is coming on, but so far no cramp. I've stretched it a few times, so hopefully I've averted cramp-dom. I'm also drinking lots of water and because I'm sure I stink, I'm going to go take my second shower of the day.
Oh - props to Steve. He replaced a 20-ish year-old leaky kitchen faucet with a shiny new one last week. Nothing leaks! Whadda man!

Jumping rope is freakin' hard.
I'm impressed that you could jump for 15 minutes! That's a tough cardio workout. I remember my glory days of kick boxing. I hated the part of the class when we got out the jump ropes--it was too much work! Keep up the great work with the exercise--it will pay off!
