Apologies for Neglecting You

I have been lax in my attention to you, my intrepid readers. All 3 of you. Four if I count myself. So sorry.

News: I'm back down in the 198 neighborhood after an unpleasant return to the land of 200. Yuck. NEVER want to go back there. I ordered a denim blazer from JC Penney and it came today but in my mindset from the land of 200, I ordered a size too large. It's my old size. Yes! It's too big! Bummer because I can't wear a cool new blazer until I exchange this one. And on a further positive note, I'm down to a 16 in pants. I haven't been a 16 since before Caleb.

We're heading to Clovis tomorrow for the weekend. I'm actually going to just pass through and go on to Ft. Worth to see my IDENTICAL twin nephews (we found out yesterday) but Steve and the kids will stay all weekend. This works out well because it's Steve's dad's birthday weekend.

I sent off 2 more query letters today. One is for a children's nonfiction book about camels - ideally for younger readers (5-8 years old) - and the other is for a children's nonfiction book I'm entitling "Battlefield Beasts." It's going to be about all the different animals used in warfare over the centuries: horses, mules, dogs, rats, cats, bats, pigs, elephants, dolphins, sea lions, camels...etc. I think it will be a fun one to write if any publishing houses accept my proposal.

Caleb tried his hand at being a barber a couple of weeks ago. He trimmed his bangs and chopped a hunk out of Audrey's hair (behind her ear - hardly noticeable mostly) and I noticed their haircuts immediately. The hair on the kitchen floor was the giveaway. What took me 2 days to notice was Julie's trim. I didn't see it - I felt the stubble. Poor thing. She doesn't even have enough hair to make a bad haircut obvious.

I'm going to scoot now. I have laundry to fold and put away and suitcases to pack for the weekend.

Aww... if he really wants to cut hair he can cut TJ's next time we're in town--TJ prefers a close shave anyway. :) The "Battlefield Beasts" thing sounds like it'd be a neat book!
