Walt and John - Day 1
Walt (born first) was 1 lb. 11 oz. Aaron said because of the CPR they had to do on him, he’s pretty bruised up. They’ve put him on a “better” respirator than he was on last night. I’m not quite sure what that means. He’s also on blood pressure meds, heart meds, and insulin, but they’ve reduced the oxygen because of his improvements just from last night.
John was 1 lb. 12 oz. He’s also on a respirator “just because” (I don’t know the reasons – this is a quote from Mom), and is also on blood pressure and heart meds and oxygen. They’ve reduced his dosage of the blood pressure meds and reduced his oxygen because he’s also improved from last night.
Laura was discharged this morning before lunch, went home and showered, ate lunch, then met Mom and Dad at the hospital. Dad decided he was going to drive up with Mom this morning, return to College Station tonight because of commitments tomorrow, then go back to Ft. Worth Saturday. I’m not sure what Laura’s parents’ timeline for arrival looks like.
Apparently when Aaron got to Cook Children’s Hospital last night, our cousin was working. The nurses’ station he stopped to ask directions at was her station and the other nurses recognized him as “Katie’s cousin” and got Katie for him. She doesn’t work in the NICU, so she went with him to see the babies. Except for the nurses’ shift changes, Aaron and Laura will have 24-hour access to the boys. Other family members (meaning the grandparents at this point) will only be allowed to view the babies, but will not be able to get information from the nurses.
Hopefully Mom will be calling me soon with an eyewitness report. When I got off the phone with her about an hour ago, they were at the hospital about to go with Aaron and Laura to see the boys.
Aaron said all the ministers (except the Sr. Adult minister) from their church visited Laura before she was discharged from the hospital this morning and that their Sunday School class is “chomping at the bit” to see Laura, Aaron, Walt & John.
So that’s what I have right now.
