How Audrey Welcomed the Day

No school today to "celebrate" President's Day. How does one celebrate President's Day? Weird.

So Caleb is at home. He and Audrey are eating breakfast and she announces that she has boogers. He tells her she can't smell because of it. She starts crying. Not the big have-a-fit-scream-and-yell crying, but the heartbreaking silent tears and downturned mouth. She says, "I can't smell!" when I ask what's wrong.

I hold up my rose Steve got me for V-day to smell. But I smell it first to make sure there's still something to smell. There's a bit of fragrance, but she insists she can't smell. More big fat tears and frowny mouth. I get her a tissue and she wipes her nose but refuses to blow. With an eye roll I leave the scene.
