Marvelous Summer Morning

I love Los Alamos in the summer!

I love the cool summer nights the most. We got home last night from Clovis at 10 p.m. The house was stuffy and hot. After opening windows, turning on ceiling fans, and turning on the vent of the swamp cooler, the house cooled off so quickly! This morning when the kids woke up, the 2 older ones had chilly toes! Julie was fine because she had been in bed with us for a while.

Now is the time for me to get serious about packing and preparing the house for our departure. I kept telling myself that after Memorial Day, I could get down to the brass tacks. We went to Clovis to visit all of Steve's family - parents, brother's family, sister's family. This is the last time we'll see them until Christmas. We also took the opportunity to go to Canyon to see my grandmother and aunts, and were pleasantly surprised by the presence of one of my uncles who lives in Oklahoma.

While in Canyon at Grannie's house, I took a picture of Audrey (to be posted later - have to get it developed) with her hand in a handprint I made when I was 2 months shy of being 3. The cool thing is that Audrey is 2 months shy of being 3. My fingers were about 1/4 inch longer than hers are. Or maybe I wiggled my fingers while the cement was drying.

Caleb had some good Caleb-isms this weekend. I thought I'd share them:

I thought the tater tots were "fish sticks". The funny thing about that is that Caleb used his fingers to make the quote marks. He says he saw it on a show one time. Steve and I had a good laugh about this.

That's just like the show. Of course, I've never seen the show.

So now I need to get back to work. In addition to unpacking, I need to get up to the eye doctor's office to see if they can fix Caleb's glasses. Audrey & Caleb had a tug-of-war with them after Audrey snatched them off the dresser during naptime. They bent an earpeice beyond my ability to fix it. This happened not 2 hours after I mentioned to Steve that I'd like to get a spare pair of glasses for Caleb.

Caleb, Poppy's glasses got accidently dropped and so, now they are in need of repair. Grammy used a little Super Glue on the ear piece, but don't know if will hold or not!
