The day's adventures were more frustrating than marvelous

The travel agent calls today 5 minutes before I leave to pick up the kids at school and tells me that the cost for our flight to London has gone up $400 in the last 24 hours. She was supposed to have purchased the tickets YESTERDAY. Actually, I take that back. She was supposed to have purchased the tickets LAST THURSDAY. 7 days ago. $1800 ago. So I spent all afternoon trying to figure out what we were going to do...the total cost for the 6 of us to fly over is rapidly approaching the price of a decent used car.

Side note: I just gave Audrey 3 feet of Scotch tape to play with so she would leave me alone for a few more minutes. She was very happy with that.

Back to my rant. So I finally got hold of a travel agent here in town who knew what I was talking about (regarding lab travel). I think the other lady was brand new and ours was her first job. How unfortunate for us.

On another note: Busy Bee Preschool and Day Care is closing. Caleb and Audrey are sad that their school is closing. I'm sad too. I don't know the details of why it's closing, but I know that there are a lot of hurt feelings about it. That's the really sad part.

On a happier note: Steve and I decided last night that we are going to have a joint b-day party for the kids since we will be in England for Audrey's b-day. I'm working on a date for the shindig.

I'm trying to wind down from my stressful afternoon. I haven't been this frustrated in a long time. It felt foreign and uncomfortable. I'm glad to be feeling better now. Of course, some semi-sweet chocolate chips and walnuts for an afternoon snack helped, too. Poor Caleb and Audrey kept trying to talk to me while I was on the phone and I kept having to tell them to hush.

I need a happy thought...here it is...my family. I'll leave you with that.

Man I can feel you pain on the tickets issue. I am so sorry that happened. I told Steve how that would have went over for Gwen ... not so good.

BTW if it helps any check out my latest entry on the bubbalog. I can't help but get a bit defensive about my friends. :)

Drop her like a bad habit! :) That's crazy that Busy Bee's closing, it's been around forever. How sad for everyone. I was up in LA for the millionth time this weekend and I don't want to go back for a long time, but I would totally come back for the chillin's party. :) I must love them a lot!
