A Nice Relaxing Day
Saturday.
Since I busted the log jam that was the royal mess in my house yesterday, I have had time today to do nothing. Actually nothing translates into sitting in front of the computer. I did a little productive work on my Bible study for Tuesday (which was great; thanks for asking!), but mostly it's been just messing around. I'm good at that. It's my payment for getting all 3 kids' rooms sorted, laundry folded, and the dishwasher loaded and run.
Typing has been a bit of a challenge today. My "Mr. Tall Man" finger on my left hand is causing problems. I was getting a cookie sheet out of the oven last night (naan bread - yay Indian food!) and the pot holder wasn't quite in the right place, so I have a nice 450-degree-induced blister on the end of my finger. I had a band aid on earlier, but it wasn't doing much good and was getting in the way of things like typing and slathering lotion on Julie's little eczema-plagued skin.
Oh - Julie has eczema. Not bad, but bad enough that when we change her diaper, she starts scratching her thighs, tummy, back, and bum and leaving red scratch marks. So we're using Eucerin cream on her. It's working because she's not scratching nearly as much. I'm using it, too and it's great! And speaking of Julie, she also has horrible, TERRIBLE diaper rash. It began yesterday because she has diarrhea. I think it might be teething because she also has the pink spots on her cheeks, which, if you're British, signals a teething baby. Oooh-kay. Back to the diaper rash - it's awful. I feel so bad for her. She wakes up in the middle of the night crying because it hurts. She woke me up 2 nights ago with a nasty diaper and last night it took both Steve and I to clean her up. Poor baby. :(
On to other things...I get the "Colorful Images" catalog and had to laugh at a couple of tea towels on the front cover. http://www.colorfulimages.com/472362.html?AS=1&keyword=472364 I like the coffee one and the housework one. The other one I can live without.
Speaking of cleaning, I'm actually supposed to be cleaning the office right now. It ended up being one of the dumping grounds when we came home. Terry & Gwen bought us a little 2-ft. Christmas tree and it got moved in here, as did every single piece of paper that's entered our house in the last 3 weeks. Except for the stuff we brought from England. It's mostly the kids' artwork, but I still need to find a place to put it. But instead of cleaning, I'm blogging and watching "Chicken Little." We never went to see it when it came out, and we didn't rent the DVD either. The first time Caleb & Audrey saw it was on the ferry form Scotland to Ireland last summer. Since we got the dish reconnected and got 2 recorders, I'm recording it, too. So I have it on here in the office, the kids and Steve are watching it in the living room, and it's recording in our room. Even though it's recording in our room, we can still watch it in the living room. That's slick!
Yesterday, Steve had an appointment with the travel office lady at the lab after his boss told him that he'd received an e-mail from another travel office lady saying he was delinquent on $10,000 travel expenses. TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS? I DON'T THINK SO! Yikes! So last night he had all the receipts out (since we saved *everything*) and discovered that Enterprise over there double-charged us $4k, in addition to weird charges and credits that would appear on the card periodically without any explanation. So Steve is going to try to call them Monday to get things sorted with them. In addition to this, he discovered that he hadn't submitted some things. So hopefully this supposed $10k debt will GO AWAY.
Ok. Enough time wasted. Time to go warm up a cuppa and get to work.
