Report on the Day
I wrote a book today. A whole book. Granted, it is a children's book and only has 1600-ish words, but I wrote the whole darn thing today.
It's about Stephen F. Austin, the "Father of Texas." In case this name means nothing to you, he was responsible for getting the first American families to settle in Texas while it was still part of Mexico. Plus he was an amazing diplomat. I made Caleb be my guinea pig and read the manuscript to me since I'm writing it for K - 2nd grade. I told him that I would pay him 10 cents for every minute he read since this was "work." I owe him a dollar. He got tired of reading and I read to him, otherwise it would be 2 dollars.
I'm polishing it up now and hope to have it ready to send to a couple of publishing houses this week. I'm going to see if I can e-mail it to an author friend of mine to get her opinion first. Lea, ask Mom to see it this week at school!
But now I'm going to bed.
Oh - an Audrey moment.
Tonight she had a headache and she and Steve got into a verbal tussle after dinner. Afterwards she said to me, "It made my head hurt more and my brain has a little break in it." She put her index finger and thumb about half an inch apart to demonstrate the little break. Made my heart break!
