This is me whining.

Whining will follow, so if you don't have much tolerance for complaining, this is your warning.

I have a sinus infection. I've had them before, but not the constant headache that accompanies this particular infection. Right now my eyebrows and my upper jaw hurt. My nose isn't overly stuffy or runny, so I suppose that's a good thing. I've been popping ibuprofen like candy for the last week and I can tell when it's time for another dose.

I went to the urgent care clinic on Monday morning and got some antibiotics, and I must admit those helped ease the headache a little bit by Tuesday. The full course of meds is 10 days, so the doctor told me that if I'm not better in 2 weeks to come back. Yikes - 2 weeks of feeling like this. Well, 2 weeks on top of the 1 week I felt bad before I went to the doctor.

Wednesday morning I was feeling much better - first day in several I hadn't awoken with my eyebrow/jaw headache - so I decided to go for a run. I felt great on the run, no problem breathing, but by the time I got home the brow/jaw pain was in full force. I should have taken ibuprofen before I left, but I didn't see the point.

So tonight I'm going to go to the YMCA, pay $3, and use one of their treadmills during their "Friday Happy Hour." I figure I'll dope myself up good before I go and hope for the best. I really have to get back to running. Before Wednesday's run, it had been 2 weeks. Too long not to do anything. But before I go to the Y tonight, we're going to go to a high school pasta dinner. It's for the cross country teams. We have a couple of the runners in our youth group and we're glad to support them. Plus I'm glad not to have to cook. So I'll take the kids up and Steve will meet us there after work. This way we'll have 2 vehicles after dinner so he can bring the kids home and I can go run.

I devised this clever plan this morning at 5 a.m. when my alarm went off. I really didn't want to go running this morning, so I found a way to run later. This way I have all day to psych myself up and get excited about running.

I got new running shoes last week. They're awesome. They better be, because I paid $100 for them. But they feel great when I run and they keep my feet from doing the weird things they want to do on their own. No, not walk instead of run, they want to roll inward. I'm an overpronater.

Ok - I suppose the whining is over.

My adorable nephews are one today. YAY! I wish we could be at their party tomorrow, but since they are in TX, it's not really an option. We sang "Happy Birthday" to them while they were here visiting and my kids gave the boys some toys. Actually, I told them one day that if they wanted to look through their stuff to get gifts, they were welcome to do that. I didn't think they would come up with anything good, I just wanted to get them out of my hair for a little while. Much to my surprise, they actually found some appropriate toys that the boys enjoyed playing with. So i let them do a quick disinfecting of the stuff before they bagged it up and presented Walton Bear and Tiger John with the toys.

On another note - Julie has decided it's time to start potty training. Fine with me. I'll let her set the pace since that method seemed to work so well with Audrey. Wish I had done it that way with Caleb. Her incentive is candy corn. She loves it. So do I, unfortunately.

I'm going to go now. My headache is still raging and Julie is home from school today with "squishy poo." But we have to get to the grocery store today to get our weekly provisions.
