We're Home
We got home from visiting grandparents late yesterday afternoon. Consequently, our house is now trashed. We have a pile of dirty laundry that's about 4 feet across and 2 feet tall, but most of the clothes came home clean. I did laundry a couple of times over Spring Break while we were gone. So we have empty suitcases standing around and laundry baskets with clean folded clothes waiting to be put away. The muck tubs are full in the kids' rooms with toys that I cleaned up last week before we left.
After church and lunch out today, we came home and all 5 of us crashed. I think we all slept for 2 hours. Everyone is up now - Audrey is trying to find a granola bar for a snack, Steve and Caleb are playing video games, and Julie is playing with a rather noisy toy in the living room.
I think the thing I missed most about home while we were gone was my coffee. We have a friend here who owns a coffee shop - he roasts his own beans, too. He's turned me into a major coffee snob. Or maybe it's just the way I make it here that's not quite the same when I go elsewhere for a cuppa. But this morning I had a nice cup of Brian's brew. Brian is our coffee friend.
The girls had new dresses for Easter but since the dresses are these little cute sundresses, we had to layer shirts and tights underneath and sweaters on top. Not as cute as I had envisioned, but they were still cute. How can Audrey wearing a pink dress not be cute? And Julie is just cute anyway.
So maybe tomorrow I'll get a call from my eye doctor saying my contacts are ready. I haven't worn contacts since Caleb was born. In fact, I quit wearing contacts when Caleb was born. Too much hassle to have a child and try to deal with contacts. But now I don't care about the hassle. At least I can say I don't care. We'll see when I have to start messing with them again. This time I only had to pay $25 for the contacts since they're "medically necessary." Apparently the difference between my eyes is great enough that it warrants insurance paying for my contacts. Whatever. I'll take it.
I need to go now. Steve announced "somebody stinks" and didn't get up from his spot on the couch to see who it is. Too busy playing X-Men with Caleb.
