Marvelous Adventures During this Wasted Day

So today I have basically just surfed various websites about housing in and around Reading (pronounced Red-ing). A place I'd like to rent can be seen here: http://www.findaproperty.com/agent.aspx?agentid=6426&opt=prop&pid=193119

In Steve's words, "impressive." Same capitalization and punctuation. I think if we're going to be in England, we should really go for the whole stereotypical British experience. Especially since the good old government will be picking up the tab! Since we'll only have one vehicle, I've also been looking at maps - here's the link to where this house is and where I will chauffeur Steve to work every day: I REMOVED THIS LINK BECAUSE IT WAS TOO DANG LONG AND MESSED UP THE PRETTY PAGE LAYOUT. I can e-mail you the link if you want it.

But in actuality, we'll probably end up someplace like this: http://www.findaproperty.com/agent.aspx?agentid=2443&opt=prop&pid=226093 - a nice, normal-looking house that's closer to Aldermaston:

I have also started looking at school information for Caleb. He will be in Year 1. Apparently, they start kids in "Year R" the year they turn 5 - which means Caleb has already missed a year of British school. But I get the impression that this is no big deal and kids can skip Year R and go to Year 1 if they are 5. But I still have much research to do, since you apparently have to apply to schools over there. Yikes. So the girls may end up chauffeuring both boys each morning depending on what ends up happening with school.

Deep breath. Lots to do.

And as Terry and Gwen warned me yesterday at lunch, I do think that the real estate agents over there charge tenants for finding properties for them. Another area needing further research.

So now back to regular old "Los Alamos" life - dinner is in the oven, the kids are watching "Dora" and at 5:36 p.m., I'm still waiting for the mail to arrive. I am going to go now and fold some laundry so the kids and I will have stuff to wear at Nana & dc's next week, and Steve won't have to do laundry while I'm gone. Not that he's not capable, but if I know Steve, he will probably work late most nights.

Until later!
April
